This journey involves riding to York station and catching the train to Darlington and returning via Durham. It can be done the other way round, but the start from Durham is a horrific hill climb. Check Eats Coast, Cross-country and Tans-Pennine for carriage of cycles.

The route follows cycle ways marked on the map - green circles a few millimetres apart. There are a few cut offs to shorten the route. Probably about 50 miles in total, quite a few severe hills, both up and down.
