This is a new format for describing entities. Updated 25th July 2019. If you wish to comment, please email me, Bill Oldroyd.
The format is used to describe entities such as information resources, people, organisations, objects, events and so forth. Entities can be both real and imaginary.
This proposal concerns the manner in which descriptions of these entities are recorded and presented. The objective is to provide a simple text format which can be easily understood, created and edited by humans using simple text editing software but at the same time can be the text can be interpreted into a data model by software. An hierarchical is provided by indentation. The simplicity and clarity of the format assists understanding of the manner in which the descriptions are constructed, thus allowing experimentation and development.
The choice of descriptors is illustrative, not definitive. The review of current schemes is a basis for the choices made, but there are differences which illustrate a different way to describe entities.
